The moon is halved, the trees around me are shedding, and I'm walking Max. Fall has cooled the sugars in the leaves, painting the coming grey days with one last burst of color. After the Northern lake air and tundra of Canada's plains pummeled us with cold bitter wind, rain and grey, after the days of gloom and "there seems to be no end to this feeling" eventually there is a void. The North that has nothing left to give leaves in its' absence a vacuum. Sucked into the empty space of both my mental well being and this grey mid western city is the soft gentle air of the South. I swear I feel moist lapping of gulf coast waves filtered through Spanish moss, dabbled with notes of flowers still blooming, and pushed with a wind that reminds me of the breeze that covers the Hawaiian nights. It seems easier to breath, makes the holiday season seem further away than it actually is, and really makes life a whole lot better. Tomorrow will not be like today and that's fine, I'm ready. |
