Tip the bow of the Corssica S into the crystal clean spring cold water. Slide
in and tighten the skirt. Grab the paddle and get ready to play in a river. It
seems easy paddling down a river, after all I've spent many hours in a kayak,
but the first time I pushed into the river current I flipped over.
The thought of spending over 1000.00 on a kayak and equipment and doing so
poorly early on made me feel as if I made a colossal mistake. It also didn't
help that the water was 45 degrees. The beginning journey was as chaotic feeling
as the start of a mokume gane piece. The design is not clear, and the
metal at first sight looks mangled, but given the time and love of the job
itself, the metal starts to show a story of patterns.
My first waterfall the bow tipped and dove into the river gliding deep then
popping up. The kayak and I were becoming one bending and relaxing to the
currents that flow, understanding that it's not about fighting but going with
the flow, and like Happy Gilmores golf pro, Chubs-"It's all in the hips"
A good journey has chapters of emotion good and bad and concludes with
lessons learned, and memories made beyond to drone of everyday life.
