Hurricane Katrina

Today in Cincinnati the weather is absolutely beautiful.  The skies are blue, the clouds are white, the sun is shining, and there is a light breeze gently swaying the summer flowers.  On a day like this it is hard to believe that Hurricane Katrina could have happened at all, much less is still causing serious suffering.  But then, a knock at the door is a Red Cross worker going door-to-door for Katrina Relief collections and the television is full of unbelievable scenes.

Our family is getting ready to go cheer on the US National Men's Soccer team in their battle against Mexico for a chance at the World Cup this year.  And other families in our neighborhood are leaving for a holiday weekend on the lake or camping.

So life goes on but maybe not in the same way that it has before.  Because I truly believe that when those with the least among us are suffering, we all suffer.  At a point like this when the hurricane victims have literally nothing but bad memories, they certainly have the least.  For the month of September, the labor on all of my designs will be donated to the American Red Cross.  The amount per item varies depending on the piece.  But when a design is purchased, I can give you the amount.

September 8, 2005    Update

Thank you for purchasing jewelry that I have designed in the past 5 days.  At the end of the month I will list the total amount to be sent to the American Red Cross.
