Golden Globe Jewelry Gets an "F" January 2006
I always watch the beginning of the award shows to see what new designs and fabulous gems the stars wear. I was very confused by the Golden Globe jewelry. Nearly all of the stars wore earrings with no necklaces. Following Hurricane Katrina, many stars felt uncomfortable flashing big necklaces and that is understandable but I think it has been long enough that it is no longer gauche.
What really bothered me the most was that the earrings were clearly too heavy. Many of the stars' earlobes were clearly pulling with the pierced hole in their ear looking like a slit. OUCH! If you try to wear an earring that heavy, I guarantee you will have a headache within an hour.
So my question is did the handlers and stylists of the stars gang up on them to make them uncomfortable and not as beautiful as they could be or what? Peter thought maybe the jewelers are no longer willing to loan out big necklaces but I kind of doubt that. (But if that is true, any actress who is attending the Academy Awards who cannot borrow a necklace, call us please!) Most of the famous actresses are very beautiful women with gorgeous skin and lovely necks, I cannot understand why they would not highlight their neck and face with a gemstone necklace.
I hope the Academy Award's fashion and jewelry is more complimentary and less painful.
Okay, this is admittedly a completely vain and banal topic but it is a topic that entertains me occasionally.
